Supervising the building work
This was where French Property Renovation really came into their own.
The builders English was minimal, and we couldn't understand their accent
let alone the technical terms ! FPR were not offering their online service
at that time but it was wonderful receiving the photos that they were taking
on the 'key stage plan'. We could see our French house taking shape from
the comfort of our London flat, knowing that the building work was in good
hands.
Many of the day to day problems were dealt with by FPR without having to
consult us, and where an 'owner's decision' was involved we were either
emailed or telephoned by FPR. We didn't encounter any problems from the
builder who was as good as his word, but it was great to know that we had
someone we could intervene at a moment's notice in case of any problems.
Progress reports
We received these every one or two weeks, so we could see exactly how our plans were taking shape. We were able to share the experience with our friends and family (my mother had her say in the patio where she was planning to sit!), and I can imagine that the experience is even better now that FPR are offering this online. I must sound like an advert for the company, but we really appreciated having photos of the work as it unfolded (see right hand column opposite).
