Ready for Christmas
The building work came in on time and on budget. We had an unexpected snowfall
which gave us the opportunity to test out our insulation - the walls had
been insulated for the baking hot summers and freezing cold winters (down
to as much as -15°C) and we were kept warm with our underfloor heating
and double glazed windows. We also appreciated the French shutters which
have a large air gap between the shutter and window, ensuring that both
heat and noise are kept out - or in !
We now had the house of our dreams in a little village just 40 mins from
the Mediterranean to the south, and the Cevennes mountains about the same
distance to the North. Good luck to anyone planning to buy and renovate
in France, we can thorougly recommend it - with a little bit of help from
our friends !
