Finding a French architect
French Property Renovation commissioned three architects on our request, and whilst it is true that we did ask for three different styles, we didn't expect such different approaches. One suggested the Bergerie was perfect for renovation, another said that we would be crazy to attempt such an enterprise, and the third was somewhere in the middle. We asked FPR for their view, which was to start from scratch, but recuperate as many old stones and tiles as feasible to incorporate with the new building. They also were able to advise on local style and practices, such as the shape of the Meditteranean arches, and 'Oeuil de Boeuf' oriel windows, and most importantly sound out the local Mairie as to local planning constraints.
We asked FPR to work with the architect they felt would be most suitable to draw up sketches, and once we were happy proceeded to submit our plans for approval.
