Clearing the ground
It was only when we started to knock down the stone walls we discovered
just how bad a state the bergerie was in - and were thankful we had decided
to start again from scratch. We also had the advantage of being able to
position the new house exactly where we wanted it, with beautiful views
from our living room window across the Garrigue countryside, with the beautiful
slopes of the Pic St Loup mountain as our backdrop. The rocky terrain had
to be broken up with a mechanical hammer so we could lay the foundations.
